The SABC is for the first time participating in showcasing South Africa's music heritage at MIDEM 2008, Cannes, France, 27 –31 January 2008, together with the Department of Art and Culture and the South African music industry conference and exhibition Moshito.

 

AIRCO Member Yoel Kenan (Keevision, Runway Music , Keemusic) will be speaking at a panel discussion at Midem 2008, as part of the official Indie Music Summit programme. The panel is entitled: "Looking for Inspiration - Concrete out of Box Indie Initiatives ".

All producers of sound recordings and music videos of South African origin in South Africa are obliged to deposit a prescribed number of copies of their products with the National Film, Video and Sound Archives for archiving, including back catalogues.

All South African record companies and owners of recorded music are hereby cordially invited to submit Original Music and Video titles for inclusion in the 2008 South African Midem Sampler. All submissions will be judged by an independent panel of music experts for inclusion on the sampler.
