AIRCO - the proudly South African music industry body - is deeply saddened by the senseless and tragic death of our son, father, husband, colleague, friend, national ambassador and hero, Lucky Dube.

We will always remember Lucky Dube with pride, especially within the local music industry where his passing has left an emptiness into which no-one will ever really be able to fill and with no contenders to pick up his spear. He was an outstanding artist and one of the most brilliant composers that South Africa has ever produced.

His sudden death is a huge loss, to South Africa as a nation, to Music, to the many of us who would consider ourselves as part of his family, and of course to his legions of fans both here and across the world. His legacy will live on for ever and ever.

On behalf of all our members, the AIRCO management team extends its heartfelt condolences to Lucky’s family, and to all those who grieve with us in this time of sadness.

May his soul rest in peace.
