Cape MIC is The Cape Music industry Commission - an initiative set up by the Department of Economic Development to amplify the vast potential of the Western Cape Music Industry. It aims to make the local industry a flourishing and economically rewarding industry for all of stakeholders. Press launch with select representatives : 3 Sept 2008.
Through engaging all stakeholders in the western cape music industr,capeMIC aims to focus and develop new opportunities, trends and technologies to benefit the economic development of the region.
Under the guidance and governance of CEO Peter Theunissen, capeMIC believes "that it is high time that the Western Cape receives true recognition for its contribution to the music industry of not only South Africa, but also the world. With the launching of Cape MIC, our goal is to work as hard as possible, to grow the music industry of the Western Cape to a point where it becomes a truly significantand seriously recognised contributor to the economic development of our country."
